Adoptions

How to Adopt

We base our adoption program at the Petsmart in Holmdel, NJ. Some cats stay at the store full-time in the Adoption Center, but many more are brought in from foster homes on Saturdays.

You can stop by any time to take a look, but a volunteer must be present if you want to go inside. Visits can be scheduled by appointment during the week, or you can join us on Saturdays from 12:30 to 4:30 when we have an adoption crew present all afternoon and many more adoptables.

All potential adopters are encouraged to fill out an application ahead of time to streamline the adoption process. Once completed, email to us at paninc@att.net.  Contact us if you have any questions or need the app emailed to you directly.

ADOPTION PROCESS

Yes, we do same day adoptions on Saturdays if you qualify. We work hard to make our adoption process a positive experience with minimal waiting. However, these are innocent animals that are under our protection, and we have to take certain steps to insure we are selecting responsible homes.

Approval for adoption requires either a current vet reference, or a brief visit to your home. If we can reach your vet  or schedule a home visit, many applicants are able to bring home their new pets the same day they apply.

You may also get pre-approved to adopt a pet by submitting an application during the week. This cuts down on the paperwork and waiting time you will experience when you come in to adopt.  Submitting the application ahead of time also helps us to determine if the animal might be a good match for you and we appreciate your patience.

ADOPTION FEE & WHAT'S INCLUDED

Our adoption donation helps to cover our veterinary and other expenses, so we can save more animals. Our current fee for cats is $125.00 for a single, or just $175 for a pair.  Some special needs animals may have reduced or waived adoption fees.

What's included:
Age appropriate vaccinations, spay/neuter surgery, FeLV & FIV testing and deworming.  All cats are checked and if necessary, treated for fleas and ear mites

Ongoing Support

We offer ongoing support and counseling with each adopted animal and will help with your new pet's adjustment & behavior as well as offering advice with any aspect of pet care. We also have an open-ended re-homing policy. If at any time, for any reason, you can no longer care for the pet you adopted from PAN, you are encouraged to contact us for help.
